19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
